Fire Rated Sealants & Mastics

Fire rated sealants and mastics are specialised intumescent and fire‑resistant compounds used to seal joints, gaps, service penetrations and construction movement joints in fire‑rated walls, floors and ceilings. These products expand when exposed to heat, helping to maintain fire and smoke compartmentation and slowing the spread of flames through openings and linear spaces.

How Fire Sealants & Mastics Work

Fire rated sealants and mastics contain intumescent materials that expand under high temperatures, creating a char barrier that blocks fire, smoke and hot gases from passing through gaps or penetrations. This expanded barrier helps preserve the integrity and insulation of fire‑rated assemblies for their required duration, as tested to standards such as AS1530.4 and AS4072.1.
