Fire Rated Downlight Covers
Fire rated downlight covers are intumescent safety products designed to preserve the fire resistance of fire‑rated ceilings when penetrated by downlights, speakers, intercoms or other services. These covers expand under high heat to seal gaps and prevent fire, smoke and hot gases passing through the ceiling, maintaining compartmentation and safety in a fire event.
How They Work
Installed above or below the ceiling, fire rated downlight covers use intumescent material that reacts to heat during a fire. As temperatures rise, the material expands to fill the penetration left by the light fitting, helping to reinstate the fire rating of the ceiling system for up to 2 hours.
