Darch Plaza – Linear Heat Detection Cable
BACKGROUND:
As incumbents for the fire protection maintenance we initially received a callout to an alarm activation. Cause was identified to be linear heat detection cable located within the ceiling space of multiple tenancies throughout the centre.
CHALLENGES:
Identifying the cause of the alarm was initially easy however locating the exact section of cable damaged was hard. Subsequent investigations identified a number of affected areas with the cable melting against the metal purlins of the roof in mid summer conditions.
SOLUTIONS:
Our services coordinator ensured each tenant affected was well versed on what scope needed to be carried out to address the issue. A new linear heat detection cable was sourced and installed with no businesses affected.
